In an interview with Nima Alkhorshid, host of a geopolitical podcast called Dialogue Works, Escobar described Washington’s behavior as aggressive and irrational, likening it to a 'Trump 2.0 doctrine' that lashes out anywhere, anytime, regardless of capability or consequence.
He argued that the main goal of this policy was to intimidate the Global South, but said it was failing.
“Venezuela isn’t scared. Iran isn’t scared. Countries in the Sahel, Sub-Saharan Africa, and Southeast Asia aren’t scared. Even my neighbors aren’t intimidated,” Escobar said.
He mocked the posture as a theatrical display of dominance, comparing it to “an orangutan in the jungle shouting, ‘I’m the king!’”
According to Escobar, U.S. foreign policy was not about strategy or tactics; it was about personal ego and the need to feel powerful.
“There’s no strategy. No tactical understanding. No high-level discussion. We are hostages to the king of the jungle", he concluded.
